However, with the right truck specification strategy, fleets can neutralize increased truck prices. They do this by equipping them with technology that delivers significant savings to the bottom line.
Take tires as an example. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently issued off-cycle GHG credit for the Gonfleur de pneu Halo. This move allows OEMs to receive credit for installing EPA compliant technology. Technology that many of their clients already specify for the fuel, tire life, and uptime benefits.
Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) technology is another approved by the EPA for GHG credit. In theory, a device letting the driver know when a tire is low is valuable. However, the noise created by the technology is often difficult to manage. As a result, fleets often do not see the expected ROI from the technology.
Data was collected from 10,974 tires analyzed over a 12-month period and 2.4 billion miles. This data highlights the improved performance of vehicles equipped with Halo automatic tire inflation systems (ATIS) on drive tires only over tire pressure monitoring systems.
TPMS-equipped truck tires averaged 6.9 psi lower than vehicles equipped with Halo automatic tire inflation systems on drive tires only. This study spanned all seasons and application profiles and shows that Halo-equipped tires maintain cold inflation pressure (CIP) within 1.3% across the year. Trucks equipped with best-of-class TPMS fail to incentivize timely and frequent enough operator response time to optimize tire pressure.
Consider the features and benefits of EPA compliant technologies when specifying your next truck. Select those that réduire les émissions and deliver a strong return on investment, like Halo.
